This small ice cream shack doesn't have much in turns of glitz or glamor, but makes up for it in taste. They have homemade ice cream, and Amish brand cold-cuts which I thought rivaled boars head. The ice cream was fantastic (vanilla, mint chip, and orange sherbet)...extremely creamy and flavorful. I also ordered a chocolate banana milkshake, which was very good and slightly too rich. Some people like the chocolate ice cream with chocolate milk shake...but I lean vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup + banana!!! Only negative is that they aren't very polished and lack of seating indoors...two factors that they don't really need.

This has the best ice cream in NSB. Homemade flavor a - had birthday cake with fresh cake chunks in it. Friend's butter pecan is best ice cream he's ever had.

Review for Banana Split Republic This place has the best ice cream in the area. Period. Conveniently (and diabolically) located adjacent to the farm market where I buy my fresh vegetables and fruits every week and after I finish stocking up on the good-for-me stuff, it stands to reason that I should indulge in a guilty pleasure once in a while, right? I'll admit that does take a fair amount of discipline to just load up the groceries and drive off but once or twice each month Banana Split Republic starts calling my name and I need my periodic ice cream fix before I head for home. Bon Apetité. "life's too short for bland food, bad wine, weak coffee or cheap whiskey" Ray

I SCREAM ,YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!! Probably one of the best sundaes I've ever had. It comes in second running close to first to a sundae I had in Vegas @ The Sugar Factory. The ice cream is homemade which you can't beat. There is a deli inside as well with a case of pasta salads, potato salad, mac salad, tuna and chicken salad. There is also some yum candy for purchase. A warm welcoming from the employees and the lady who helped us was beyond nice. Sensed my little one wanted some toppings and offered some free of charge. Even when he was sad cause we told him it was too hot to eat outside she put some whip cream and strawberry drizzle on his ice cream and asked if he was ok. Just great customer service. Really impressed. There's also some great produce right next door at Perrins Produce with great prices. 3 cucumbers for $1? Shut up and take my money.

Stopped by after a day at the beach, even though they're not quite on our path home. $3.61 buys a generous "single" (two) scoop on a waffle cone. The ice cream was good, generous with the chunks of cookie dough (me) and cheesecake (my friend). The waffle cones were just okay, and mine didn't seal at the bottom so ice cream got all over the place despite a fistful of napkins. Overall certainly higher quality product than our usual stop, Frozen Gold. We'll probably return at some point. There's a sign on the door that says as of 3/24/14 they're no longer serving subs or hot foods, though they still have an Amish deli where you can purchase meats and cheeses.

I went for the deli, actually, but found it difficult to focus on the healthful (and HUGE!) spinach wrap I ordered given all the delicious ice cream and visions of banana splits dancing around in my head. Audible stomach groans were an embarrassment. Someday, when I've earned a treat, I'll check that out. In the meantime, I will wear my blinders when I come in here for one of the best sandwiches in town.

OMG! Amazing ice cream! Don't pass this place up. I am so happy we found this place ... Although I may not say that six months from now when I'm 200lbs larger from the ice cream addition I now have. I frown when I drive past the Diary Queen with a line of tourists who don't know this far superior establishment is only a few hundred feet away ... This place deserves the same attention, but hey I guess that's better for me! I haven't tried any of the deli options from the menu yet, but good lord you cannot beat this ice cream. A dozen or so flavors with the biggest pieces of candy/cake/fruit I've ever seen mixed in. Even Marble Slab and Cold Stone don't meet the bar set by this little hole-in-the-wall. It's certainly nothing to look at but who cares when your floating on cloud nine?! Oh and the girls behind the counter are sweet ... We left them a $5 tip and they just about jumped over the counter and kissed us ... Lol

Don't over look this little nugget! Homemade ice cream in lots of flavors. I had a banana split with coconut ice cream, hot fudge, pineapple and strawberries. This is dangerous because I am back two days later!

Delicious gelato and extremely friendly customer service. Had a wonderful experience thanks to the owner's daughter. This is not a fancy place and the outside seating is a mish mosh of picnic tables and family swings. However, places like these make vacations memorable.

How could this place not be on Yelp yet?! Simple awesome hole in the wall find! Homemade ice cream and gelato for a STEAL of a price! We drive all the way over from Ponce Inlet to this place! Their homemade ice cream is simply outstanding (the Birthday Cake flavor is a favorite) and their gelato is amazing (I had an almondish one that was my favorite gelato ever). Their portions are huge and their quality is high. I have NO idea how the price is so low. The first time I got ice cream for myself and friends I seriously thought she rang it up wrong and did not charge me enough. Ice cream for 4 people for under $10?! The location is right on A1A, and set back a bit. There is a farm stand open there during the day as well with great produce which I should mention as well. Besides the ice cream, they also have plenty of food choices too. You could get a panini, chili dog or or even a Cuban sandwich! While I have yet to sample any of them, the prices also look amazing and I have heard great things. This is a great example of a non-tourist find that you must try! They also have a cute front porch to sit on, but we usually just go lean up against the car or take it to go.

(07/27/2011) Little (really little) deli/ice cream shop on US-1 next to a produce stand. Get your watermelon, pound of Troyer's corned beef and frozen treat all in the same trip, cheap. The daily sandwich specials are a steal (all under $5); Wednesday is Cuban day. Cubans are pretty good; nicely pressed bread with a good amount of ham and roast pork, Swiss, pickles and requisite mustard. Reubens also hefty for the price. Hot sandwich service can be a little trying, especially during the lunch rush; might be faster if you're getting just a cold deli sandwich. Service does not fawn over you, let's call it "efficient". Homemade ice creams are where it's at here. The Key Lime Pie was tart and limey; base was tangy (maybe added cream cheese?) and had a high amount of butterfat (thick mouthfeel, crumbly texture); nice addition of graham cracker crust bits. Other flavors seemed smoother; all were true to description and tasted natural, not overly artificial (i.e. banana ice cream tasted like fresh bananas and not like a Now & Later). Place is tiny, a 4-top, a 2-top, and 7 barstools at a counter, nice set of picnic tables, rocking chairs and porch swing outside, though, for you to people watch as you and your ice cream melt away in the summer heat.

Wow, what a cool treat after a hot afternoon at the beach. Ultra casual atmosphere and homey feel with plenty of picnic tables and swinging chairs for eating ice cream and deli treats. All the ice creams, about 30 flavors are homemade and delicious. There is a sugar free and no sugar added option. We had ice creams and bottled water for four people for just $10...total! This included a three-scoop banana split with all the toppings and all the fixin's, a sugar-free chocolate sundae with whipped cream and pecans on top and a cookies-n'-cream sundae with hot fudge and whipped cream, plus two bottled waters. Another must-do stop for any trip to New Smyrna Beach. Great waffle cones available too and great for the entire family. The shop is adjacent to a big fruit stand with plenty of selection, hot boiled peanuts and anything you might need. Worth an early stop as this will be a spot to return to again and again! Also, found this jewel due to a Yelp review and we were so happy to find it!
